They do not know any better. Your little bundles of joy can be little bundles of pain in the ass. Especially when it comes to common sense. If you have candles burning, the kiddies do not think to themselves "there is a potential fire hazard." They think OHMHY GOD THAT IS PRETTY GIVVE IT TOO ME and then they knock it over and it lands on the rung and boom. Living room up in flames. This is but once scenario that comes to mind when you think about fire safety for kids and how much people ignore it.
What about when kids are old enough to play with matches and start setting little pieces of paper on fire and stuff, just because it's fun? Well, even if they know that fire is bad by this point and TRY to be safe, they do not know a darn thing about it. Go teach them some damn fire safety for kids so that they do not play with matches at all. All it takes is for one that is not finished being lit yet to get tossed in the trash, igniting the whole damn thing. Which in turn could ignite your whole damn home.
This is why fire safety for kids is so important. It could mean massive loss or injury or death.
- Teach the kids an escape route if the house catches on fire.
- Tell them to keep low to the ground and to recognize the sound of a detector.
- Make sure you practice your evacuation drills. Good fire safety for kids involves repetition.
