Fire Safety

Fire safety comes down to a couple of things. Which we'll talk about.

Some Things You Should Know About Fire Safety

STEP NUMBER ONE of the fire safety awareness campaign pitched by all of us here at Outdoor Safety USA is to make your home as fire proof as possible. This does not mean bringing in the garden hose every night and dousing the furniture and kitchen in water or anything drastic like that. It just means keeping an eye out for obvious fire hazards. Make no mistake about it, fire safety is about preventative maintenance as well as an emergency response to unforeseen circumstances. The best way to ensure fire safety is for you to be prepared enough to handle a crisis when you need to, and smart enough to prevent that need from happening.

STEP NUMBER TWO is how you react when it is too late to prevent it from happening. Much as we prepare, there are always some things we can't see coming and we still must be able to stay alive in the event of a crisis. Without a doubt, the single most important fire safety tip at this stage is to get away from it unharmed. The children will need to know how to do this, as they will likely panic and not think straight. Secure family members and pets before any possessions, then have the fire department's number on hand as well as on speed dial. You cannot be too careful and the sooner you get it put out, the less damage will have been incurred.
